Well, we’ve made if facebook official, and thought it high time we post something on the blog about the BABY we are expecting come December!

Baby Garth at 16 weeks... Yes, I am now that person who finds the ultrasound picture truly fascinating, even though it looks like so many other ultrasound pictures I've seen!

We are completely thrilled about growing our family, and are thankful for all the love and supportive words people have offered over the past few weeks and months. Obviously we’ve been going through a lot of a transition… with change happening not just in my body, but in Dave’s job situation and in our location. As we look back over the past few months, we can see how God’s timing really is perfect. Back in early spring, we set the deadline on the job hunt in Nashville. That was when we decided we were ready to make the move to Alabama and for Dave to possibly return to Neptune–just weeks before we found out we were pregnant.

As for pregnancy details (for those who might be wondering), the official due date is December 12. No, we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl, and we’re not going to find out. We love surprises, and think it will be fun to let the anticipation build until Baby G makes his/her official arrival. (My sister, however, does not find this “fun” but is hoping to track down our ultrasound tech to see if she can find out. Ha!) Also, I’m feeling great these days. Occasionally I get tired, but fortunately, I’m not yet employed, so I take a lot of naps! In the first trimester, I never got all-out sick, but would get very nauseated if I got hungry (which I seemed to get hungry ALL THE TIME). So, I was eating every two hours to keep the sickness at bay. (So let that serve as an explanation/apology to all my former co-workers at REI who simply thought I was OCD about getting my 15-minute breaks and out-of-control with my food consumption.)

We are more thankful than ever to be officially settling in to our post-tour life… ideally before the intense “nesting” stage of pregnancy begins! And we’re already getting excited about the adventures ahead with Baby G. That’s why we went ahead and ordered this awesome Burley bike trailer! It has been on backorder, so it still hasn’t arrived yet, but we are looking forward to cruising around and going on bike tours with our little one!

More details on why and how we selected this trailer in a coming blog post!

In other news, our “stuff” finally arrived after living in an empty house for three weeks. We are so grateful… and overwhelmed with how much of it there is! (Which explains my lack of activity here on the blog!) More to come soon, perhaps next week, on the unpacking process as that relates to our general transition back to “normal” life.
